Lurpak® Feed
What is the Lurpak Feed?
It lets you know when we've added new content to our website - like recipes, features and news articles, and when there's been new activity in our forum. You'll know about them all as soon as they appear, without having to visit the website itself.
Feeds are also known as RSS. There's some debate about what RSS actually stands for, but most people think it's 'Really Simple Syndication'.
How do I start using feeds?
The first thing you need is a piece of software called a news reader. It checks the deeds and lets you read any newly added articles. There are lots if different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and others are applications that you can download.
Browser-based news readers let you catch up with your RSS feed subscriptions from any computer, whereas downloadable applications let you store them in your main computer. It's a bit like the difference between downloading your email using Outlook, or keeping it on a web-based services like Hotmail.
Once you've chosen a news reader , it's up to you to choose the content that you want to receive - like all the news from lovelurpak.co.uk, for instance. You can sign up by visiting our site and clicking the RSS button at the bottom of the forum, features or recipes section.
Do that, and you can subscribe to the Lurpak feed in various ways, including dragging the URL of the feed into your news reader, or by cutting and pasting it into a new feed. Our site uses an orange button, you can find this on our homepage, recipes pages, features page and in the Lurpak forum.
Some browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari, automatically check for feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an icon when they find one. This can make subscribing to feeds much easier. Please see their individual websites for more details.
How do I get hold of a news reader?
There's a whole range available and new versions are appearing all the time. Different news readers work on different operating systems, so you'll need to choose one that works with your computer.
